Pikes Peak Hill Climb

There were a couple of wild crashes this year at the race to the top. Drivers said that "The mountain was angry this year". I would say so.

This first one happen at an area called "The Devils Play Ground". Bothe the driver and passanger walked away.

This one happen just after the start. The driver was able to walk away too, after they got him out of the trees. Luckily no-one was hurt on the sidelines.

Thanks for posting! It is a little daunting up on top add wind and racing foils and wow. My grandfather was the head Stewart of the race for a few years it is quite a race...

No offense to anyone who has done this race, but you have to be batshit crazy to do it, IMHO

Watched it all the time growing up in Colorado Springs and I seriously think they are a special kind of stupid.

Here's a great video of Ari Vatanen, WRC world champion from 1981, doing Pike's Peak in 1988, setting the then current record time..

Incidentally the Ari Vatanen Rally Center is about 65 kms from our town.
