History of Camp McKall

Got this from a friend ...

Quote:
Recently, I have been thinking about what became of the book that Lowell Stevens (RIP) was writing on Camp Mackall. Originally the USASOC Historian’s was assisting in getting it published but they decided not to mess with it. A man named Tom MacCallum stepped up and actually had it published with Lowell Stevens as co-author. It was initially on sale at the Rankin Museum of American Heritage in Ellerbe, NC but Mr MacCallum soon became overwhelmed by the demand for it. It can now be purchased from the Richmond County Historical Society http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/seller...=AS5BNP8FYZUVG in Rockingham or from http://www.amazon.com. The title is Camp Mackall, North Carolina: It’s Origin and Times In The Sandhills. The cost from Amazon is $35.00 + 3.00 shipping. It’s a great book to have if you are interested in the history of Camp Mackall. Will probably go “out of print” and be extremely hard to find later on. Also no if you were thinking how much of a cut I was getting, I just think that this is the real birthplace of Special Forces.

To assure that the book continues to be available, it is being managed and sold through the Rankin Museum of American Heritage in Ellerbe, N.C.

Information is available during museum hours at (910) 652-6378 or by writing to the museum at P.O. Box 499, Ellerbe, NC 28338. Hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m.

Copies are also available at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore, 1300 Broad Avenue, Suite 6, Rockingham, N.C., in the Lowe’s shopping area.

Any proceeds remaining from the sale of the books are for the exclusive benefit of the Rankin Museum, a nonprofit corporation housed in a facility provided by the Town of Ellerbe.

It's an old article, but the price may still be good??
