Drill Here - Drill Now
Looks like somebody heard the call of Drill Here - Drill Now
70 miles of the coast.
http://blogs.miaminewtimes.com/ripti...e_cuban_oi.php
Oh - wait! What country was that?
"U.S. Inspectors Approve Cuban Oil Rig 70 Miles Off Florida Coast, Ros-Lehtinen Slams Obama"
I'm sure the tree huggers are happy with that. Lots better than 60 miles off our coast and under control of US companies.

We can't build a pipe line from our neighbor to the North, But we can give the OK to Cuba to drill 70 miles from the nations largest marine sanctuary..
Makes sense to me,, NOT...

And there is the Brazil thing that may or may not benefit the US.

I recall when gas hit $4.00 a gal in the wake of Katrina, public outcry caused a bunch of discussion over drill here drill now (DHDN). One of the counter-points to DHDN, and it was touted as a big one by the press, was it will take 7-8 years before we would see one drop of oil. Guess where we are right now...almost 7 years from that time, and haven't done a damn thing. One more year and we'd all be swimming in Black Gold, Texas Tea.
Anyone heard anything from any of the republican candidates over this? here is a little tidbit:
Quote:
Gingrich: Let oil and natural gas industries drill offshore reserves now blocked from development, end restrictions on Western oil shale development. In Alaska alone, “We could liberate an area the size of Texas for minerals and other development.”
Huntsman: Used tax credits to promote clean energy in Utah but says he has learned that “subsidies don’t work and that we can no longer afford them.” Favors phasing out all energy subsidies and cutting regulatory obstacles to drilling and production.
Paul: Remove restrictions on drilling, coal and nuclear power, eliminate gasoline tax, provide tax credits for alternative fuel technology.
Perry: Proposes authorizing more development on federal lands and slashing regulations to spur drilling in restricted areas and open off-limits waters and lands to production, including the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and the Southern Atlantic and Alaskan outer continental shelves.
Romney: Accelerate drilling permits in areas where exploration has already been approved for developers with good safety records. Supports drilling in the Gulf of Mexico, Atlantic and Pacific outer continental shelves, Western lands, the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and offshore Alaska; and supports exploitation of shale oil deposits. Reduce obstacles to coal, natural gas and nuclear energy development. Says green power has yet to become viable.
Santorum: Favors drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and scaling back “oppressive regulation” hindering drilling elsewhere.

Article was from November, so maybe something has changed. All of them say the same thing, except some throw in that little extra verbiage that makes you go hmmmmmmmmmmm.
We'll relook the situation in 2019-2020 to see if any progress has been made.

We are drilling
We are drilling like crazy in this country. The Eagle Ford and Austin Chalk as well as the field in the Dakatos (can't remember the name right now.) BP is drilling again in the Gulf. Chevron comitted $7.5 billion for the gulf about 6 months ago. Shell is expanding efforts in the Arctic. So many jobs in Texas there are not enough skilled workers. 95% of drilling is done by companies you have never heard of with a couple dozen employees.

I believe there is also one in Ohio...can't remember the area but remember reading about it when reading about the North Dakota area.
And yet gas prices are climbing again.

And the Cubans let the Chinese drill. Amazing how China, a country we owe so many trillions to, now drills off our coast. I am not going to say much as this is a subject I am very ill over. I blame a few people big time and nothing I would say is going to be nice.

Keystone
They are starting to build the southern leg of the Keystone, then fill in the center when the environmental issues are addressed. I don't think they would be building the southern leg without a pretty good idea the rest will be permitted.

It is definitely a good way to buy votes in the area.
