MOD Cuts Jump Pay
Remember all those times we've heard, "Hell, and they pay me to jump - I'd do it all for free!" Well...
Quote:
Paratroopers Hit By Pay Cut On Return From Afghanistan
Telegraph, 25 May 2011
Army chiefs have decided to end a supplement paid to each member of the regiment for parachuting. It is worth more than £2,000 a year.
The MoD is struggling with an estimated £1 billion shortfall in its budget for the current financial year. Cutting the so-called Para Pay bonus will save more than £4 million a year.

Nope...not this guy.
NG SF (and other ABN) units and NGB have a long standing fight over this very topic. When we are not on orders (training, deployment, or school) our jump pay is pro-rated to something like $13.00/month average. Even on the months units jump we don't get the full $150.00. Its a crock of shit to be quite honest and there are quite a few guys who WILL NOT attend drill those months because of the issue.
NGB does the same with pilot's flight pay, though they have the same flight requirements (hours) as everyone else has...

Shouldn't have to "practice" jumping every three months, anyway.
Just fly for the trucks, hit like a sack of shit, and turn in your chute, right?

Brit writers
Brit writers.
The way I read it is they are not cutting "Jump Pay" they are cutting "jump slots".
If I read it right "British Airborne" will become three 160 man companies and a few support troops.

If they want to save,, stop the jumping.
The fuel for the jumps is probably 3-4 time what the dam hazardous duty pay costs.
For that matter get rid of the pilots, they cost 4-5 times 4M £..
For a complete 1B £ savings get rid of the Queen...
Ya, I know,, sounds stupid,, and they will be stupid..

Ahhh...but Teddy, it isn't about the money.
And there are people working on that issue for us, and several other issues which have plagued the NG, one of those individuals is on this very site.

Hey Dusty, I just flew for the TS. He was the biggest guy and I figured if I could land on him I'd have a nice soft landing.
Got pretty damn close a few times, never quite hit him though.

I know the Army has already start cutting Airborne units that they see of not needing to be Airborne. On Ft Bragg Army cut back on 20th Engineer Brigade from it being a full Airborne Eng Brigade to only Units within the Company still on Jump Status. All their Heavy Units on Bragg are not longer Airborne and only a few people within Brigade HQ are one status. 27th and 37th are the only units, so that’s about 3, 500 to 4,000 slots cut. This happen I think when that Brigade took over all non assigned Engineer Units in the Army. 20th Brigade became HUGH!!
