I wonder who they train. My nephew is just finishing PJ training and they sent him to an outfit like this one but located near San Diego for his MFF training.

Perris is only an hour North of San Diego. Another Sky Diving area is at Lake Elsinore , about 10 miles West of Perris...

Live just a few miles from Perris. It seems that with the more people that jump out there the accidents have increased over the years. A lady died there about a month ago when she had a malfunction with her main and then cut away but didn't pull her reserve in time. My company has a facility in Perris just across the road from the airport. Last summer a Russian skydiver mysteriously dissapeared out there and when the breeze was just right we could actually smell his remains decomposing but didn't know what it was. Turns out he landed just a little further out from where everyone searched. A few months later a farmer turned up his skeleton while he was plowing his field.
If you ever make it to Perris they have a nice bar & grill complete with large windows where you can drink and watch the jumpers come down. There's also a pool next to the flightline where in the summertime between jumps the women take their suits off and lounge in thong bikinis.
Thought about jumping out there onetime but it's a civilian outfit and a little different from the military.

I went diving with them. They made me sign the most impressive waiver I have ever seen in my legal career. I still talk about it.

In this instance, the two deceased were working with Canadian military. Canopy collision at estimated 300' AGL; both jumpers considered highly experienced in the civilian world of skydiving; jumpers were jumping civilian gear; at least one of them is known to do a high performance (270 degree turn) landings, unknown if that was the case in this instance but highly probable.

L.A. news stating they were Canadian jumpers. One survived.
Short story out....

1 Dead, 1 Hurt in Perris Skydiving Accident

Perris - One of two Canadian men injured in a skydiving collision this afternoon over Perris Valley Airport died.
The mishap was reported around 1:50 p.m. near the airfield at 2091 Goetz Road.
Jacob Jensen, 31, and Turci Yuri, 34, flew into one another and became entangled during a drop, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
They were taken by ambulance to Riverside County Regional Medical Center in Moreno Valley with serious chest and head injuries, said sheriff's Deputy Herlinda Valenzuela. She was not immediately able to confirm which of the men died.
"The other skydiver remains in critical condition," Valenzuela said.
Both men were from the Perris Valley Sky Diving School.
The skydiver's death comes 15 days after two instructors from the school were killed when they became intertwined and plummeted 400 feet to the ground.
The National Transportation Safety Board and FAA will be investigating the most recent accident, according to Valenzuela.

I inturpret they were getting ready to land, one turning into the other, blah, blah, blah.
Rest in Peace.
I'm sure lives well lived, thoughts out to family and friends.
On another note, better days,...(although 2.5 year old news).

That is not correct. The Canadian's were there and provided medical support. The two people involved were Italian and Danish. The Danish man has died and the Italian man has severe head/chest injuries.

Details on the First accident
This is in reference to the 2 pax that died initially in this thread(training the Canadians).
This from the DZO at Perris:
===================
This accident involved two experienced jumpers. Both on separate two ways - both instructional jumps, coaching experienced jumpers to become instructors.
There is video from a spectator on the ground that doesn't show a great amount of detail, but does show Pat heading north, on a long final, heading towards the landing area. Landing direction is south to north.
Chris enters the video as he is coming out of a turn, from above and behind. Chris hits Pat's canopy at approximately 400 feet. At this point the canopies were intertwined, losing altitude very quickly, unfortunately no reserves were pulled and the end results is simply a tragedy.
This is a huge loss to our skydiving community, but certainly more so for the family members of both Pat & Chris. We withheld the details of this tragic accident for what we felt was the appropriate amount of time out of consideration for Pat and Chris's family and friends.
