the Arab League summit

Arab League Chief: Israeli-Palestinian Peace Process May Fail

27 March 2010
Edward Yeranian
Cairo
Arab leaders have begun their annual summit to discuss Middle East peace and other issues in Sirte, Libya Saturday. The Israeli-Palestinian crisis was at the top of their 27-item agenda.

Arab League chief Amr Moussa said Arab states must prepare for the possibility that peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians may be a complete failure. He said that an endless peace-process goes nowhere and achieves nothing. It is a waste of time, he adds, and it allows Israel to improve its position in Jerusalem and the Occupied Territories….

Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi, who is hosting this year's summit, urged members of the Arab League to stop the dialogue and start acting. He says that the Arab public has had enough of hearing words, as I myself have heard so many words over 40 years [at these summits]. The people, he argues, want action and not just words.

Moussa said the Arab world is "facing the multiple crises and challenges of our era" addressing the conflicts in Somalia, Sudan, Israel, Palestine, and Iran. He stressed that Arabs, like Western nations, should hold a dialogue with Iran, since it is a chief concern to the region:

He says that opening an Arab-Iranian dialogue is more urgent than ever, because Arabs are worried by many Iranian positions, despite our many common interests. The Arab League, he argues, is ready to take steps to include Iran in regional organizations if dialogue progresse.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon also addressed the summit, criticizing the Israeli blockade of Gaza, as well as Israeli settlements in Jerusalem and on the West Bank….

Arab League chief urges closer ties with Iran

By KHALED AL-DEEB, Associated Press Writer Khaled Al-deeb, Associated Press Writer –
Sat Mar 27, 5:12 pm ET
SIRTE, Libya – The head of the Arab League urged the 22-nation bloc on Saturday to engage Iran directly over concerns about its growing influence in the region and its disputed nuclear program….

On Saturday, Al-Jazeera television broadcast an audio clip purportedly from a former top deputy of Saddam Hussein calling on Arab leaders to recognize insurgents in Iraq as the sole legitimate representatives of the Iraqi people and saying they should represent Iraq at the summit instead of the current Iraqi government….

….The leaders at the meeting were divided over which Palestinian faction to support - Fatah or Hamas - and what to do about Iran's rising influence. But they rallied around the president of Sudan, Omar Hassan al-Bashir, vowing to protect him from an arrest warrant by the International Criminal Court for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Darfur. Mr. Moussa, the secretary general of the Arab League, said before the summit got underway that the member states would "continue our efforts to halt the implementation of the warrant."

Iran Arms-Smuggling Case Roils Nigeria

13 November 2010
Nigeria is threatening to report Iran to the UN Security Council if an investigation shows it violated international law and U.N. sanctions in importation of arms to Lagos, Foreign Affairs Minister, Mr. Odein Ajumogobia said yesterday.

The artillery rockets and other weapons, loaded in 13 shipping containers that were labeled as building supplies, were seized on October 26 at the Apapa Ports. The State Security Service, SSS, believes the arms were imported by some local politicians to destabilize the country if they lose in upcoming elections that are expected to be hotly contested.

An international cargo shipper based in France has said one of its ships picked up the containers from Bandar Abbas, a port in southern Iran.

"The consignment did originate from Iran," Nigerian Foreign Minister Odein Ajumogobia told newsmen in Abuja. "That has been confirmed from our own shipping documents and the Iranian authorities have also confirmed that the consignment did originate from Iran."

....Inside the cargo containers at Nigeria's main port in Lagos, inspectors found 107mm artillery rockets, rifle rounds and arms. The rockets can accurately hit targets more than 5 miles (8.5 kilometers) away with a 40-foot (12-meter) killing radius. Insurgents in Afghanistan and Iraq have used similar rockets against U.S. troops. China, the United States, and Russia manufacture versions of the rocket, as does Iran....

It’s really pretty simple, “If the Arabs put down their weapons today, there would be no more violence. If the Jews put down their weapons today, there would be no more Israel”

Of course he‘ll be protected, he’s a card carrying member of the Ikhwan, and a member of the OIC - who cares about the 2 million Christian Sudanese slaughtered by Bashir’s Janjaweed, but hey, Jihad is an inner struggle…

Kitman TV has an interesting documentary, called “Jihad on Horseback”

I will be taking half of your home and moving in some homeless people. I will also give them an abundance of money and supplies. If they take over the whole house..well that is just tough luck for you.

Interesting.

How did you acquire this notional home?

Have you noticed that the homeless have done a much better job of maintaining their side of the house and have made huge numbers of improvements?

BTW, looks like they have been giving remodeled rooms back in hopes that the violence would stop, without measurable success.

Do you believe that allowing the homeowners to kill all of the alleged squatters is the way to resolve this now?

Who are the Palestinians?

I would like a lefty to define just who a Palestinian is and just what area is Palestine.

Is Palestinian a race? Maybe a people? If a people where did/do they live? Is being "Palestinian" reserved for any religion or all religions.

Is the West Bank Palestine? I thought it was Jordanian land. Is Gaza Palestine? I thought it was Egyption land.

Maybe the Palestinians should get a large chunk of Egypt and Jordan to go along with their West bank claims.

So why after 60 years does Jordan still keep the Palestinians in refugee camps? Maybe to keep a breeding gound for jihadies?

Nice

Concerning the Jewish question, and considering the country of Palestine, its antiquity, and its proud recorded history, here are a few more questions to ponder:

1) When was Palestine founded and by whom?
2) What were the borders of Palestine?
3) What was the capitol of Palestine?
4) What were the major cities of Palestine?
5) What constituted the basis of Palestine’s economy and what was its form of government?
6) Who was the leader of Palestine before Arafat?
7) What was the ancient language of Palestine?
8) What was the name of Palestine’s currency and its exchange rate?
9) What caused Palestine’s demise and when exactly did that occur?
10) Why do Arabs dream of destroying Israel?

Another thought to ponder:

"The Palestinian people does not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle (Jihad) against the state of Israel for our Arab unity. In reality today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of a Palestinian people, since Arab national interests demand that we posit the existence of a distinct "Palestinian people" to oppose Zionism"

The peace Arabs are offering Israel (peace for land) is nothing more than the "peace of Saladin" - epitomized by “The Treaty of Hudaibiya,” and disguised in the doctrine of "al-Hijra," which is nothing more than a trojan horse.

The problem for Israel is that the Qur'an teaches that if a land was ever occupied in the past by Muslims, then it must be recovered by Jihad.....

And from the Hadith:

Bukhari (52:177) - Allah's Apostle said, "The Hour will not be established until you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will say. "O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him."

Some interesting Biblical references to the borders of Israel: http://www.biblicalheritage.org/BHR/BHR-43.pdf : http://www.biblicalwitnessforisrael.com.au/future.html : http://www.bible.ca/archeology/bible...-rhinocolu.htm

And on the ancient borders of Palestine:
http://www.bible.ca/archeology/bible...-rhinocolu.htm ; http://www.palestinefacts.org/pf_early.php ; http://focusonjerusalem.com/thebibleandpalestine.htm

Biblically and historically, there was no Palestine before the Romans. Palestinians were the original Philistines and were not Arabic in origin. They were a conglomeration of nomadic tribes. The Romans named the people and the region while trying to drive out the Jews.
