Happy Mother's Day
To all the ladies
That put up with us,,
To all the girls friends
That manage to stick around
To all our Wives
Who survive with part time husbands
To all the Moms
That manage to raise our kids
In spite of our help...
Thank You..

I was fast asleep at, for me an early hour, when I dreamed that my cell phone rings (the pink panther theme) goes off. In my dream it stops and I almost roll over and go back to sleep..when it starts again. I get out of bed stumble across the salon and start to look for the phone and it stops, and immediately rings again. Find it, it says 'unavailable".. I answer, "yes??" "GOOD GAWD WOMAN DON'T YOU EVER ANSWER YOUR PHONE?!?!?!?" So I squealed like 12 yr old at a rock concert "Txxxx!!!!" and he laughs, "Happy Mom's Day MOM".
MY day is complete.. It was 1:42 eastern and 10:AM somewhere in A'stan.
I sat and talked to him for 45 minutes until the sat phone started to die.
He is freezing his balls off halfway up a mtn somewhere. He said, "just WHO did I piss off to get God to put me here?"
I wisely said nothing, but remember all those E6,7,8 QP's at some time or another he has p**sed off either with political arguments (which he usually wins, he good, very good with MI) or defending those under him or just being his smart *ss self. I was vastly amused... I offered to get him anything he might need to keep him warm.. Like with me back home, all is peachy keen and rosey... he says nothing to worry me... "I am gtg" as I hear his teeth chatter..
They were taking mortar rounds...he says, "geez, I wish these guys (taliban) would get a day job, this is ridiculous. If they could aim I would be worried, but they might get lucky and that is more scary..."
Happy Mom's day to all of you who read this... Mom's that is and Mom's to be. We bear them, love them, rear them and then cut the apron strings and send them off to 'war'.... sit at home, give them children (they do NOT give us kids, its the other way around), be their rock and port out of the storm, their lee shore... and if necessary we bury them and never forget them... and sometimes we divorce them...but never ever do they really leave our hearts... it is a job of love, the love we bear our men-children no matter the age they attain.... a job, I for one, would not trade for any amount of money. knowing what I know now.. and have experienced. To quote Buffet, "I'd get myself drunk and jump right back in. "
HAPPY MOM'S DAY ALL!!!

Awesome Mom
I got this in email today.
Before I was a Mom,
I never tripped over toys
or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not
my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.
Before I was a Mom,
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind
and my thoughts.
I slept all night.
Before I was a Mom,
I never held down a screaming child
so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night
watching a baby sleep.
Before I was a Mom,
I never held a sleeping baby just because
I didn't want to put her /him down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces
when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small
could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.
Before I was a Mom,
I didn't know the feeling of
having my heart outside my body..
I didn't know how special it could feel
to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond
between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small
could make me feel so important and happy.
Before I was a Mom,
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night
every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth,
the joy,
the love,
the heartache,
the wonderment
or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much,
before I was a Mom .
Send this to someone who you think is an awesome Mom.
May you always be overwhelmed by the Grace of God rather than by the cares of life

Just wanted to express my graditude for all military families, and what they must go through. Interesting, I was listening to my Uncle talk yesterday, who is a WWII Army vet. He is 85 years old, and I can count on one hand the number of times I have heard him talk about what he did in the war.
In any case, he was telling a story to us in the car, and I asked my Dad later what it was like for him, and Grandma and Grandpa, while my Uncle was deployed.
My Dad was young, but he says he remembers each night, listening to the radio in the kitchen of their farmhouse, waiting for news, "from the front." Dad said that my Grandma was always baking something during the broadcasts, and after they were over, a homemade apple pie, or sugar cookie was shared.
Dad said that grandma just hugged him tight during those times, and did not let him wander too far from home.
My memories of a great mom to her children...my Grandma.

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms.
Thank you to those who wished us moms good wishes today - I, for one, appreciate them and they help when the tough days show up.
(and yes, I AM a mom.....my screen name is NOT a first name and last name merged together ! It is the name of a group of artisans from the early part of this century in the NE part of the US. )
