AR Battle Rifle Poll
What AR style battle rifle do you wish that you could take on deployment?
Rules are:
1. You are picking for reliability.
2. You have actual range time on some of these weapons.
3. The AO could be Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, etc.
4. Parts, mags, and ammo is abundant. So, don't decide based on that.
5. You get to keep this weapon when you retire, as a gift from the U.S.
Government for services rendered.
Also, I'm interested in the reasons why. So, many on here have a treasury of knowledge.

I would take the one the Army issues me, so that I do not wind up unarmed and in jail.

That statement is the divide between those that HAVE served in combat and those that haven't..
It's not an Xbox game where Rambo goes to the arms room and picks his choice..
With very few exceptions,, you stick out your hand and except what you are given..
Having said my $00.0002,,,
I'll take one of each... and add the goodies...

From the attached photo, I do not see the option where I can shoot 90 degrees around a corner.
First, define Battle.
Personally, I like the M41A Pulse Rifle. Wasn't the black PLT SGT, the same guy in the opening scenes of Avatar?

You are right. There is no definitive term of "Battle Rifle," but everything on the list is chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO/ .308. (I know their different)
Battle rifle of this poll then, 7.62 or .308.
I didn't include the other big 3 "Battle Rifles" on the list, because I wanted to hear of the QPs experience's with the newer AR designs.

Then to answer your question indirectly, I have to say,...
"I maybe old school, but my favorite rifle is still my issued M14. It held up to the most difficult enviroments, felt strong in my hands, no frills, and as mean as any woman I've ever known."
I'm too unfamiliar with some of the new stuff, so if one could find a comparision, I'd like to see. Having said that, I will remain "non-voting" participant in the thread. I did like my M16A2/M203, Alice was her name.

Or in my case, feeling the wrath of my Gunny.
Ideal battle rifle, Lighter than a feather, more fire power than a 105, fire rate of a mini gun and unlimited ammo supply. OH yeah, never misses.

Your choices show some lack of experience.
M-14 would be and is my choice. although for this the SR-25 was what I would know anything about.
