2010 BCS National Championship Game: Texas vs. Alabama

First, go Longhorns.

Second, would it have been too much to ask of the guys performing the national anthem to shave (Josh Groban) or put on a sweater over the tee shirt (Flea)?

Third, go Longhorns.

I hate to say things look dire for a McCoy-less Texas. A real shame because if I hate anything, it's the SEC.

While I may agree (didn't see the spectacle) about respect to the National Colors and Anthem, I'm surprised that you don't support their right to freedom of expression.

Rough start, but as i figured, the SEC is just too strong. Other conferences cannot compete. Had McCoy stayed in, sure, it would have been a closer first half if for anything the morale of Texas. Ohwell, i think/thought he was overrated anyways.

Going to bed now at half, confident that the Tide will have Rolled and the Horns will have been beat into milking heifers.

Halftime: is the rout on?

Hopefully McCoy's injury is not too serious. Given the way Alabama's offense has plowed through the Longhorn's defense, one wonders how much of a difference a healthy McCoy would have made.

(And how I dread the inevitable "If McCoy hadn't got hurt..." rumblings. In sport, championship teams overcome setbacks and find ways to win. Shameless Lakers plug here.)

IMO, the question "Can I?" should always be followed immediately by the question "Should I?"

Performing the "Star Spangled Banner" or "God Bless America" is just not another gig.

Just my $0.02.

Gilbert played his frickin' heart out. You can't ask much more than that from a true freshman. As my fiancee put it, he showed up tonight planning on being a cheerleader. To get thrown into the fire like that and come out with two touchdowns after being so far down...he really found a rhythm there for a bit. If a few receivers had given a bit more help on some of those passes, it'd be a different outcome.

The game turned out better than I expected. It looked like a bust of a game by the end of the half.

I was rooting for Bama, but I actually started rooting for Texas when they were making their comeback. I wanted that freshman QB to go legend. What a great story that would be???

Devastatd that Colt ended his college career that way, but what a classy guy. In his comments after the game, I appreciated that he collected his emotions/disappointments and made gracious comments to Alabama for their win and to his teammate QB Gilbert for his perseverance.
