USAF Unit Added To MACVSOG PUC

USAF Chief of Staff Presents PUC To Commandos 41 Years After Their Last Mission

Det. 1, 314TH Troop Carrier Wing added to Presidential Unit Citation for units associated with MACVSOG.

Det. 1, 314TH Troop Carrier Wing flew the four original MC-130E Combat Talons during the Vietnam War from October 1966 to March 1968 in support of MACVSOG - logistics flights, air rescues, leaflet drops {and Earth Angel and STRATA insertions/resupply/recovery} over enemy territory.

We had quite a turnout for the PUC Ceremony at Brag April 4, 2001. There were a lot more there than I expected. I was the only one wearing a CCC Recon Black-Hat!!

That's awesome. I was USAF for 3 years as a crew chief. (KC-135R Stratotanker) I actually remember meeting a man who did in fact fly the MC-130E Combat Talon during Vietnam. I really wish I could have sat down and spoken to him, but I felt that could have been disrespectful. Its nice to see these guys are getting recognized for what they deserve.
