Now I wonder - will this deprive the bill of key left-wing support? And does this represent a turning of the political tide that will ultimately result in the failure of the bill - thus leading to a politically impotent POTUS?

Rhetorical questions, all. But this seems like quite a reversal for the supporters of the bill.

I am sure Nancy Pelosi is running towards a microphone as we speak to ensure the nation knows that Health Care reform will not pass the House without a public option.

Once again proving that the Dems and Repubs are not the true enemies of each other, but the House and Senate are.

Bills in Washington are like Zomies and Vampires. Land of the living dead.

Just when you think you've killled it, it reappears from another door with slightly different wording.

While you're blasting at the ones coming through the doors and windows the D's have one or two crawling up from the floor vents.

This health care bill is going to be passed in some form where both sides (politicians) will be able to claim victory but that Zombie Health Care Bill is going to chew it's way up the American body until it takes over. Might take 5 years after the first bit is passed but it's coming.

I have perfect faith in "big health care" to kill the zombie if they get 5 years to work on it.
