I once was an 05B/18E many years ago.
I too endured the torture of learning International Morse Code and learned how to make antennas from junk.
How do you think that I was able to try and guess what type of antenna that was?

Looks like an AS-3482. It's some model of rotatable log-periodic antenna. Directional and good for medium to long range HF.

HF for Air-Craft
LPA setup for high angle radiation. Model : Big (Don't know, but I can find out.
This model can be rotated by remote switching.
Why?

Used by the Air Force with the Global HF net.
Try 11.175USB and 8.992USB.
8.992 come's in LIMA CHARLIE here in FL using an end fed long wire.
