Self Defense in FL

I don't normally start threads, but this one has me puzzled:

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,422181,00.html

I am pretty sure most of you have CC permits (one or two must be FL) and there is an attorney or two on here who might know as well. Father struck a naked stranger inside his house on his child's bed, why would he be arrested for aggravated battery? Is it just because the person he struck was under 18 years-old?

The father was charged with aggravated battery on a child and bonded out on $10,000.
They'll probably charge the boy with statuatory rape or something else along those lines.

I know self-defense laws vary by state. I come from Texas and Georgia (home of the "he needed killin" law) where you are within your legal right to shot someone on your property whom you reasonably perceive as threating. After the better half got his CC here is NC, he told me that if I ever shot an intruder to call 911 and then call an attorney before saying anything to the police. I was wondering if the laws in FL were very sticky on intruders or if they were just making a show since it was a minor he cracked in the head.

The kid is lucky he wasn't here cause we have rotties and guns rather than pipes.

Sure, there's a lot we're not hearing. The kid was in the bedroom, standing on the bed naked. We don't read anything about what the girl was doing, or what type of sounds the father heard. I'll bet that the boy was invited in.

The 'no retreat' law in Florida is pretty specific about when and how it can be used. Also, they are pretty tough on any physical action against a minor here.

The boy and girl were' getting it on, dad walks in and gets pissed, and wales on the kid. Pretty much what any other father would do.

Dad will get off. But not without a lot of headaches.

Imagine if this whole scenario occurred in Texas, or Kentucky...

You must remember,, There are Two(2) Florida's,,

One part is populated by conservative, God fearing, hard working Americans.

The other part is comprised of those that live with-in 15 miles of the beach, they tend to be Very PC, breed un-abated, have problems voting and learning to speak English, relying on over indolgent welfair programs, and enjoy a vast transient population of NY Lawyers as son-in-laws.

Our deepest fears appear to be coming true.. We suspected this would happen, but not for another 50 years..

Coastal de-migration into the Micky Mouse World. An insidious leaching of hummanity because of over population..
