Obama - Foreign Policy GURU!

He's INSANE!
Hillary's gaffe's aside, I think we can all agree she's got more foreign policy experience than he does - it's just fact (she undermines herself here frequently however). But to say that he's got more than McCain? Seriously? And then to imply that foreign policy and military (in his words "military thing") experience are one and the same - well, that's just evidence of his lack of experience. I continue to be shocked at the pass Obama is given and the wave of popularity for a man without any experience who is so arrogant.

Obama: No Need For Foreign Policy Help From V.P.
Posted April 7, 2008 | 07:52 AM (EST)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Last night at a fundraiser in San Francisco, Barack Obama took a question on what he's looking for in a running mate. "I would like somebody who knows about a bunch of stuff that I'm not as expert on," he said, and then he was off and running. "I think a lot of people assume that might be some sort of military thing to make me look more Commander-in-Chief-like. Ironically, this is an area--foreign policy is the area where I am probably most confident that I know more and understand the world better than Senator Clinton or Senator McCain."

"It's ironic because this is supposedly the place where experience is most needed to be Commander-in-Chief. Experience in Washington is not knowledge of the world. This I know. When Senator Clinton brags 'I've met leaders from eighty countries'--I know what those trips are like! I've been on them. You go from the airport to the embassy. There's a group of children who do native dance. You meet with the CIA station chief and the embassy and they give you a briefing. You go take a tour of a plant that [with] the assistance of USAID has started something. And then--you go."

"You do that in eighty countries--you don't know those eighty countries. So when I speak about having lived in Indonesia for four years, having family that is impoverished in small villages in Africa--knowing the leaders is not important--what I know is the people. . . ."

"I traveled to Pakistan when I was in college--I knew what Sunni and Shia was [sic] before I joined the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. . . ."

"Nobody is entirely prepared for being Commander-in-Chief. The question is when the 3 AM phone call comes do you have somebody who has the judgment, the temperament to ask the right questions, to weigh the costs and benefits of military action, who insists on good intelligence, who is not going to be swayed by the short-term politics. By most criteria, I've passed those tests and my two opponents have not."

see also for Clinton's response:
(from the link below)
Clinton, speaking with FOX News Tuesday morning, said she was baffled by the claim.

“I’m somewhat shocked by that since I don’t see any evidence of it,” Clinton said, chuckling. “This is, you know, kind of hard to square with his failure ever to have a single policy hearing on the only responsibility he was given, chairing the European and NATO subcommittee on the Foreign Relations Committee.

“And as he admitted in the last debate, he was too busy running for president to pay attention to what we needed to do to improve our chances in Afghanistan and get NATO more involved. So, you know, I, I ,I don’t, I don’t know, I’m speechless. I mean, you know, making an assertion like that belies the facts and the record.”

Shar,

Agree, He is insane! I have watched a lot of the testimony today on the Hill. Though ALL of the DimoRats have rudely interrupted Genreal Petraeus, Obama has done so very smoothly, with a lot more tact, than his counterparts.

Frighteneing, to say the least, that He seems to be shoveling His shit like an Academy Award winner.
Obama says, "Going to Iraq was a strategic blunder."
POS, IMHO.

EDIT to add: To clarify, one of my brothers is a democrat, and he is a great guy! The label DimoRat is reserved for those Legislators that act like, well, Rats. FWIW.

Was it Kerry that said that the Presidential office wasn't the place for on-the-job training? He changed his tune for Obama though. Apparently Obama has some other thingamabobber that makes him immune to Bush's flaw.

Obama's good at regurgitating scripted speech...

If he wins the POTUS election! I'll reenlist as an 11B...

Stay safe.

Insanity

Insanity can be defined as doing the same thing over and over, while expecting different outcomes each time.

Obama is young, wet behind the ears, and very untested...Ted Kennedy called Obama "Usama Obama" when he first came into view, I think he was right and I seldom agree with Teddy...Michelle Obama is a buit of a nagger I think, and would make a good VP choice should his pastor agree.

Should he win, there may not be enough 11B's.

Shar - Why is that such a bad thing to say? I use those exact words "military thing" more than you can imagine. My life is a "military thing" for crying out loud.

Was he refering to suggestions that military person would be his best bet as a running mate? That's my guess since Anthony Zinni has been one suggestion as a running mate for Obama.

I think we are a little to sensitive.

Something tells me you are going to need friends come November. Folks are quoting you for posterity but if you truly want to be an 11B, Yikes!! Nagging (from me) will work only if you go 18B and you've got a lot better chance at 18D. Otherwise, you are on your own. Only trying to help, Buddy.

Un-like Obama! At least I'm qualified and experienced too do the job of an 11B.

Stay safe.

No, he was saying he didn't need anyone with that whole "military thing" (which in his mind was the same thing as foreign policy if you read the article quoting him) because he had enough experience in that arena. In my opinion the way he threw it out there was VERY condenscending. "Military thing" - a trifle, a little bitty, insignificant hobby that someone can just pick up on the fly.

Am I being over-sensitive? Maybe. But he and his wife are showing themselves to be very high-minded and apt to make pretty broad-stroked comments that lead one to believe that they find themselves to be better than the rest of us. Especially those who are involved in that whole "military-thing."
