CODAN Radios?

I'm having great difficulty setting up this radio system. I have solar panels, batteries, DC to AC power source a couple antennas and these two Pieces of Equipment and no instructions:

Any Idea how everything goes together? Or can somebody point me in the right direction?

Connectivity between devices...you have an RF input and output on your Exciter/Transmitter and that isn't matching your encoder/decoder.

This would be more easily accomplished staying in-brand or packaged so you have compatibility.

With your encoder dumped into a linear modulator and on to linear amps you could string it together....

But you are where you are.

Need some way to take the output signal from the encoder and modulate it to dump into your XMTR....

My Team Sergeant has been on my @$$ about this ever since the equipment came in. How would I modulate the signal from the encoder? Sounds like I need more equipment? Appreciate the help

If you look over your specs (links) you will see that your xmitter has a built in modulator. If you do not have the cables/connectors you might want to dig up some coax and connectors and make your own connections. You should have spares on hand. Also, what type of antenna do you plan on using? Of course you might want to check with the vendor for additional assistance (if possible).

Doesn't appear to be a matter of more equipment, just trying to make two things work together that may or may not be very friendly. (as bkleonards has stated the FM30 provides the modulation)

You need to take your ouput from the Encoder and put it into a Coax Line-in to the transmitter... I'm not sure if that can be cleanly done through a c-block or if something else is required. Not much information provided through the web site or white papers...

I would contact the manufacturer of the Encoder....if that is an option

I've contacted a CODAN representative and they won't help since none of its their equipment, even though this is going to be a CODAN base station. The Tiernan Representatives are willing to help but only with the programing of the receiver. I've plugged everything together and powered up the system it just looks incomplete since its minus a PTT. Here is pictures of the major components I have minus the VHF antenna. Once again I appreciate all the help

Ok, the only thing from the photo and the lousy reference material on the manufacturer's website is that RS-232(?) port on the back. Probably would be a place to hook up a laptop with appropriate control software.

If you have a schematic, see if the pinouts match a "standard" RS-232.

Not wanting to fry anything I would check with the manufacturer and see what the pinout is and what they recommend for controll/monitor software.
There are things you could do in a pinch, but I would wear out a search for designed items before manufacturing something....
