By Mom or Dad? My Dad would have been proud...well, depending on my test subject.

Now, that's a great idea!
However, for those who don't happen to have a spare burner, one can get such things pre-built...

Weak-assed power supply.
I am wondering what the power would be with a SureFire M6 providing 18v. of lithium power?
Hmm, maybe it is experiment time.
Commerical lasers are limited to 5mw output. Is it possible that the ones contained in devices like DVD burners are exempt from this limit?

Sir, the FDA regulations seem to speak to this issue. LINK. I suspect the device is regarded as class IIIb, whereas a pointer is supposed to fall under class IIIa.
If you want parts for your SureFire conversion, perhaps these fine folks could assist: LINK
