Applebees Free Food for AD and Vets ?
Snopes didn't have a response to this. Got it from a vet friend. Sounds too good to be true.
http://www.applebees.com/vetsday/
Can anyone confirm/deny?

We got an email about it from our front office yesterday. I hope they did some digging before they sent it out to the entire Headquarters Staff.

I think I'll go to Applebee's this November 11th, after I park my rear on the curb along Central Avenue to watch the Phoenix Veteran's Day Parade near its stopping point. I will not take advantage of the "free" offer - but buy the most expensive entree and pay - gladly.

They did this last year and I went with a few buddies. There is a dark side to the deal though...drinks are not included we still ended up with a respectable tab despite the free food.

I'm sorry but, this is BAD because ????
I don't see any other major food corp. stepping up to the plate and honoring our Vets and AD this way.
If a restaurant such as Applebee's is honoring our Vets and AD with a Free Sandwich or Burger I say....MORE POWER TO 'EM !!!!!

IIRC, Golden Corral also serves vets for free on Vet's Day, and has for several years.
I do not consider paying for my drinks with a free meal a catch. It says so in the instructions.

Applebee's is new this year; Golden Corral has been doing it for years. I've no problem paying drinks and gratuity. GC's support of the Vet is one of the reasons I frequent them throughout the year. Maybe Applebee's deserves similar consideration (depends on how limited the selection is ).
Now I need to find a locale that isn't inundated with veterans! In the past it's been nearly impossible to get in the door at GC. Being at FBNC might have something to do with it.

But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.

My remarks were meant to be an attempt at humor. Sort of like complaining that you got a new car for free but had to pay for the gas.
Of course it's a great deal and we appreciate companies that do this sort of thing. I suppose I forgot to properly color code my sarcasm

Toby Keith
If you're ever in Vegas, go to Toby Keith's and get a full meal and a large beer for 5 Bucks if you served, or are serving.
