Kangaroo skin

Wow, what a great website. As I recall, the 190th AHC supported the Ausies in a small way. The word was those kangaroo combat boots were the best, so while hanging out at the pad at the Vung Tau compound I tried to get a pair. They didn't have my size. Damn!!!

While I didn't go, several good friends of mine got to Australia for R&R. They said it was real hard to buy a drink there. Someone was always buying it for them.

At B-36, we had SAS W/O Mike Krasnov (Mad Russian) attached for a year. He was a hell of a soldier and could hold his liquor. Sometime I'll write about how he shot up the Bien Hoa AF Officers Club and blamed it on the M.P.s.

I took my R&R in Sydney when the movie "The Green Beret" debuted. I had a thousand dollars with me and couldn't spend my money. Restaurants would comp your food, when someone in a club (there weren't public bars then) heard your accent, the beer flowed freely.

I left my hotel maid a hundred dollar tip and she mailed it back to me in RVN.

The Aussies were great!

Mike
