You Got to Love It

Guys:

One of my High Speed Presidents Hundred muldoons has been pressuring me and an NCO we work with to buy an Armalite National Match AR-15 for about $800.00 per rifle. I said no as I don't shoot service rifle anymore and have a AR Space Gun when ever I want to be un-impressed by the 5.56 for competitive purposes as a Match Rifle cartridge.

So this guy spends the money and gets his good deal Armalite today. Low and behold, the rear sight aperature was put on the rifle backwards. Absolutely. I had to put my fingers on the thing as my eyes didn't believe what I was seeing. He, he, he. The concave part of the sight was away from the eye. $800.00 for a rifle whose sight is on backwards!

Living proof why I refuse to buy any out of the box rifle.

Gene:

I contacted the owner of ArmaLite, Mark Westrom about this.

Here is his reply.

Hi T.

Please post a correction. The sight isn't backwards!

ArmaLite reverses the casting so that the NM aperture facing the shooter is flat. Just like an M1 or M14. It prevents the reflection from the curved surface of the sight. Apertures are smaller too.

What he mistakes as a manufacturing error is merely a difference for NM use.

Roger that -- thus saying that every National Match Hooded Aperature made for the M-14 and AR-15 really doesn't work.

There is a reason why that aperature is concave. Proven for many years to be superior than a flat sight.

Mark knows better.
