23 Toughest Militaries in the World

23 Toughest Militaries in the World, 19 Sep 2014 by Caitlin Bussmann

I don’t know how scientific this is but at least it ranks the U.S. as #1 because of a “Defense budget five times larger than the closest competition.” China and Russia came in second and third, with Iran (#17) and North Korea (#18).

I assume, with looming budget cuts, the competition will get much closer (according to this scientific study).

The picture used for the Chinese Military is pretty comical lol.

The caption beneath the picture says "in comes the most powerful Navy of all time" also. Don't the Chinese only have ONE aircraft carrier that had several issues?!

North Korea at #18? Those are some pretty tough buggers. Iran couldn't beat Sadaam, I bet the North Koreans would have...

22. French Foreign Legion - "A unit within, but independent of the French Army, the Legion is open to anyone of any nationality."

Interesting. I just found an article on some guy from Alabama who decided to join the French Foreign Legion. Good story --> http://www.vice.com/read/i-tried-joi...foreign-legion

The French Military has bee fairly active in Africa. Mali and other places. It would not surprise me if they have deployed more troupds to bad place than most of the other countries in Europe. Experience has a lot of value. The French military has often had bad leadership and that could be an issure.
