Longstreet run

Has any one else here run this race? I did the 17th annual. My time sucked because I was between an injury from jump school and getting the surgery to fix it, but still outran many. What was funny was when I passed my surgeon and he starts chewing me out because I was to get the surgery a few days later. I really wish I could still run like I did back then. Still have e t-shirt and it is threadbare as all hell now. But if I even tried to put it on I would look like Bubba J from Jeff Dunham. Old age sucks....

But it beats the alternative.

Good on you for doing this run.

I actually was surprised I finished it. My injuries hurt like hell and I felt like quitting several times. But I had to do it. Even managed to sprint the last mile in to beat a division guy. I couldn't walk for 2 days after that. Just laid around on the couch watching TV and eating bananas. (Potassium replenishment). A lot of time soaking in the tub too. That was the last long distance run I did. Had surgeries (plural) after that and my ham strings pulled up so bad it caused permanent knee problems by mis aligning my knee joints. I went from being a serious runner with some awesome legs to being half way to gimp status. But at least I got in 2 triathlons, countless 5 and 10K runs and one Longstreet. I couldn't do push-ups worth a darn (until I started driving a deuce) but I was a serious runner. Just no more long distance stuff after that. BTW, to me long distance is anything over 10 miles. As my knees got worse, the distances shortened up til I stopped running all together. I really miss it. It was one of my fonder memories of AD.
