There's a lot of power players - at least they think they are - in Washington and they like to be seen as much. So they "off the record" far too much stuff to the MSM.

Add in the agenda folks and Washington leaks like a strainer.

Leaks are not done by only one party either. It comes from both sides.

The chairman of the powerful House Intelligence Committee told Fox News that security leaks out of the Obama administration have not stopped despite an internal probe, and that President Obama has not done enough to turn off the spigot.

Without providing specifics about the new leaks, Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Mich., said the damaging release of sensitive information continues.

“We know that sources have self selected out of cooperation around the world,” Rogers explained. “We know that operations have had to change. We know that operations have had to shut down.”

“It is very clear that somebody who had access to the White House situation room, had very senior covert action classified material was responsible for some of these leaks," he said. "That is not a big group of people."

The legislation approved last week by the Senate Intelligence Committee would reduce to a handful the number of people at each agency permitted to speak to reporters on “background,” or condition of anonymity; require notice to the Senate and House intelligence committees of authorized disclosures of intelligence information; and permit the government to strip the pension of an intelligence officer who illegally discloses classified information.

I note the committee's muzzles are all pointed away from their own campfire circle.

It's been going on for a long, long time. As long as there have been secrets, there have been politicians at all levels ready to let them go for whatever reason.
