General Information about the AOR

This AOR is not the same as Asia in a geographic sense (which would include most of the Middle East), but corresponds to the AOR of the United States Pacific Command. A map of the AOR is available here.

For convenience's sake, the region may be divided into the following sub-regions:

East Asia:

  • Mongolia
South Asia and the Indian Ocean:
  • Bangladesh
  • Bhutan
  • India
  • Nepal
  • Sri Lanka
This region also covers various island states in the Indian Ocean: Comoros, Madagascar, Maldives and Mauritius. Although South Asia conventionally includes Pakistan and Afghanistan, these are included under "Middle East" as they are in CENTCOM's AOR.
Southeast Asia:

  • Burma (Myanmar)
  • Cambodia
  • Indonesia
  • Laos
  • Malaysia
  • The Philippines
  • Singapore
  • Thailand
  • Timor-Leste (East Timor)
  • Vietnam
Oceania:
  • Australia
  • Fiji

  • The Marshall Islands
  • Micronesia, Federated States of
  • Nauru
  • New Zealand
  • Palau
  • Papua New Guinea
  • Samoa
  • The Solomon Islands
  • Tonga
  • Tuvalu
  • Vanuatu
There are also various colonies and dependencies of other nations in this region, such as Guam, French Polynesia and the Cook Islands (whose status is "self-governing in free association with New Zealand").
