ROFL! Reminds me of telling people my husband worked for the 414th Truck Drivers Bn and that they emptied the septic tanks on Bragg.
My sister was asked at a family picnic what her husband did in the Army. After struggling to explain to a clueless relative she finally said "He's a Green Beret." The relative's eyes lit up and out of her mouth came "You mean like Rambo?" Sis, cool as you please, said "Yep. Just like that."
blustr18b - the old "kill you and put your head in a safe" ploy isn't true. You are blood relation so all that happens if he tells you anything is that he has to follow you around with a safe for the rest of your life. He doesn't actually have to kill you.
My husband's folks (educators from Wisconsin) came to Ft Bragg several years after he joined the Army and he took them to a Gab Demonstartion. Even after that they still were pretty clueless about his job. A couple years ago he went from 7th Grp to SOCSOUTH, so when they came to visit us in Miami he took them down to the SOC. They were impressed. Funny how a bunch of highspeed equipment can do that as opposed to an SF team explaining its capabilities. Low key is the word of the day and welcome to the board. There's a wealth of knowledge here.
