Despite the one really slimy ad and the gumblings of nutbags like Schummer and Kennedy I thought he was having a pretty easy go of it. Then again I thought that there would be all out bare knuckles brawl no matter who the President picked.

All of that opposition occurred before Katrina. I just get the feeling that the American public has a very short fuse right now. Unless the President picks someone like Bork to replace Rehnquist I just don't see the Democrats trying to make it a food fight. I am sure their pollsters are tracking those numbers as we speak.
