The problems we're having w/ the Units of Actions (UAs) (Think BCT w/ everything already assigned to the Brigade) are the Forward Support Companies assigned to each maneuver Battalion. That issue of having women assigned by MTOE to a IN or Armor BN is overridden by functionality. The bigger problem that the Brigade Support Battalion (BSB) doesn’t have all the Logistics under his/her control and won’t allow him to push more logistics to the main effort as needed.
i.e. Infantry BN 1 is pulling patrols on an objective area. RSTA BN 2 is prepping to replace BN 1. BN 1 is critical on fuel. BN 2 doesn’t want their FSC to give up their fuel because they will need it soon. If everything was owned to by the BSB, he could push the fuel to BN 1 and then the resupply from higher would be pushed to BN 2 without either BC getting all worked up over nothing.
This example is what I saw happen at JRTC and why the 101st and 10th Mountain are “giving” (still in the works and may change again) the FSCs back to the BSB and why my friend in the 82nd (they have not transformed) had no idea that the FSCs even went to the Maneuver BNs.

Only the FSC is integrated.
We are going to push a brand new unit into combat w/ about 1 year of train up into the 'stan (10th MTN.) And COL Steele's (yes that Steele) 101st UA to the desert w/ about the same train up.
