Unite was the wrong word, a cessation of hostilities toward each other is all I meant. (Which gave those in power the ability to kick out the Russians.)
Pakistan “interference”, hard to believe….. something I recall for every dollar we sent to the mujahideen funneled through the Pakistanis, $1000 went to the Pakistanis. While the president and everyone else was raising cane about the millions involved in Iran-Contra billions were being funneled through the Pakistanis earmarked for the mujahideen.
