The Ferrari 308 GTB is a thing of beauty. It is one of the finest sports cars in the world. The curves, the stances, the handling; the Ferrari 308 GTB is an engineering wonder that sits near the top of the automotive pyramid. The comfort level and interior amenities are second to none. Simply put, it is a supercar.
It is INCREDIBLY expensive - but the best costs money.
- the best needs a lot of maintenance.
- the best needs a lot of tender loving care.
- the best is just, well.... its the best
The 1996 Ford F-150 with the 300 CID "big six" engine is not fast.
It's not sexy.
The gas mileage isn't all that good.
It isn't very fast.
It doesn't handle all that well.
it isnt very comfortable.
It's cheap.
It's easy to maintain.
Nobody cares if it gets dented up.
It can take tons of abuse and keep doing what it was designed to do.
Now...
Fill both of them with five hundred pounds of bricks, and race them from the north end of Sicily Drop Zone to the south end of Sicily Drop Zone as fast as the vehicle will go, on a rainy day without using any of the trails or the airfield...
...off road only..
...and do it with 87 octanee pump gas.
Watching one of these vehicles make the journey will be incredibly boring.
Watching the other one make this exact same journey with the exact same load under the exact same conditions is going to break your fucking heart.
The finely tuned suspension is going to be ruined.
The body is going to sustain damage that will ruin the value of the car. If the vehicle makes it to the finish line without getting stuck or disabled, it will still take weeks of expensive repairs by a specially trained mechanic to restore the vehicle to its original condition.
That shitty fucking pickup truck may even be called on to help tow that wonderful fucking sports car back to main post.
Some of you may ask, "what the fuck am I even talking about"
...nothing
...nothing at all
The story above has no correlation to current events whatsoever.
