We the people share a big slice of the blame because we have empowered and encouraged the current behavior demonstrated by the selected representatives.
not Elected
SElected
...we stopped electing them decades ago - the party selects them for us because that's how campaign finance law works
Our SElected representation then assumes office and works JUST diligently enough to stay in office while slowly working their way onto the committees that provide the best fundraising opportunities and the most leverage over the constituency.
Then we allow them to use name recognition to stay in office longer than most pro sports team remains in one state. We get online and vent - but very rarely do we go beyond that...
...in fact, I am often ridiculed because of products I won't use - places I won't shop, movies I won't see, and news I won't watch because "it doesn't really make a difference"
It stopped being about "partisanship" a long time ago.
There are no more republicans and democrats in DC. Just the in-crowd and the out crowd.
Some of them with names like McCain, Romney, Collins, Burr, and others- have more gears than a tour de France road bike.
Elections are all that matters. Maintaining the status quo with election integrity is paramount - those in power will always need to retain control over who counts the votes - we the people cant be trusted with such lofty tasks.
what we really need is that Mandalorian guy and that cool black bladed lightsabre.
Lord knows there are plenty of folks that need a good lightsabering these days
