I agree with ^^ TK ^^, this is happening now because the '60s socialist, communist, radical revolutionaries now have one foot in the grave and this is their last hurrah. And they will not go quietly. They are out for blood and ANTIFA, MS-13, and other gangs are to be their berserker troops.
