Literally a flicker of a thought last night. Perusing the program just before #2 grand-daughter's HS commencement ceremony. They separately list the Honors Students, along with the names of parents, who will be announced as they're escorting their grad to be seated.* They explain the differences in tassel colors and a white mantle on the gown being membership in Nat'l Honor Society, etc., blah blah.
Looking down the list of honor students (and there were a BUNCH, with a sprinkling of ethnic variations) it struck me:
"Hunh. These are all 2-parent households with the same last name. What d'ya know about that..."
* #2 just missed the cut, but we were very proud of her because unlike her older sister, to whom many things seem to come easily, she had to work hard to be where she was but never gave up. |
