I would opine that the relatively innocuous comment, "men are scum" is no more or no less hostile or defamatory than the relatively innocuous comment, "women are stupid."
Hell, Partigen Publishing even released a book in 2013 called, "Men are Scum - Women are Stupid" so either BOTH of these statements are bad, or both of them are good...
Or maybe people - ALL people should just lighten up and stop being so easily "triggered" because all of this triggering is offensive.
