Back when my son was in scouts, I recall a conversation about a Explorer Scouts group that was inclusive of girls. They went on camping and hiking trips with little or no adult supervision. A mother in our group mentioned that the teen age daughter of a friend of hers, went on one of those excursions and came home pregnant. The mom was blaming the unsupervised outting, but in reality the same thing could have happened after a HS football game or after party in the back seat of a car......Kids will be kids and they will follow the laws of nature when allowed to do so.
I hate to see the Boy Scouts changing tradition, but on another hand, I frequently took my youngest daughter on Cub Scout outings because I had no one to watch her for the weekend. There were never any issues and the Scout leaders got a chuckle that she was always the first in line no matter what the activity or challenge.
