Grew up that way as well.
Discovered haggen-dazs at my first job, at age 15.5, in a kitchen...It was at a Country Club and fell in love with it. Lol
Later on Ben and Jerry's came out, but my thought was blah, just an imitation, and a left wing tear drop could be seen in the titles of the stuff. (Cherries Garcia. Phish Food etc...)

I Admit it, my favorite food is strawberry haggen-dazs.
