Received this letter from my campus president several days ago.

I couldn't stop giggling ....

I should go down there and tell them I need a safe space having to deal with ALL the Liberals that have infested the campus.

Quote:
Dear MSU Denver Community,

As an academic community we are committed to maintaining a campus environment that fosters the free exchange of diverse ideas and allows individuals to express their viewpoints in a variety of ways. In such a setting, and with the backdrop of today’s political climate, I recognize that some members of our University community feel marginalized, disrespected, and anxious, particularly when others’ expressed views demean their identity or lived experiences. I encourage each of you to actively seek out ways to have your voices heard on important issues facing our world today by engaging in respectful dialogue both in and outside of the classroom, and by continuing to seek out opportunities to learn about the issues most salient to you.

MSU Denver has a rich history of allowing for free discourse in an academic setting, while simultaneously supporting our diverse student body. We take seriously our commitment to a supportive campus climate for all students, as evidenced by several programs which provide tailored support to our diverse students. A few examples of such programs include:

· Immigrant Services

· Brother 2 Brother

· Cultivating Connections

· LGBTQ Student Resource Center

· Veteran/Military Student Center

I am also pleased to share that plans are underway to develop a new multicultural center to further support our diverse students and to serve as a hub for MSU Denver activities related to race, ethnicity, and culture. Events on a variety of relevant topics are also hosted regularly by different campus departments- check out what’s coming up on the University’s events calendar at https://www.msudenver.edu/events/.

If you are feeling anxious and uneasy about the future and the current climate in our country please be reminded that the MSU Denver Counseling Center offers students confidential services and a safe space to process and explore feelings. Please call the Counseling Center at 303-556-3132 to schedule an appointment or contact the Dean of Students Office at 303-556-3559 if you’d like assistance connecting with other resources.

Sincerely,

Stephen M. Jordan, Ph.D.
President
Metropolitan State University of Denver
