The Brits has a similar dust up when SAS General Sir Peter Edgar de la Cour de la Billière had his autobiography approved for publication ("Looking for Trouble" ), but the MOD was refusing permission for SAS Sergent Steven Billy Mitchel to publish his fictional novel about action in Iraq (BRAVO TWO ZERO) under his pseudonym Andy McNab.

Eventually McNab, "Nish" Bruce, Frank Collins, and others were allowed to write their novels. Now it looks like everyone has a publisher.
