I used to have funny/interesting slides up for the Soldiers before I began my class. Some of the slides showed items that asked, "can you ID this item?" I had one slide that showed the P38 you had hanging on your dog tag chain. I was surprised that very few of the Soldiers could identify the item. As surprising, I asked, "can you explain the relationship?" and showed a cassette tape & pencil, a turntable arm & a penny, etc. Once again, nothing but crickets.
