Here's what I think:
1. It is about money
2. The GWOT will be won by Spec Ops
3. Spec Ops in general is a very small piece of the money pie compared to the rest of the military and for the value added.
4. It is a mistake to get rid of any Spec Ops asset.
5. Can't we all just get along and kill terrorists?
6. I would suspect this is more a Navy "no" than an Army one.
7. If SOCOM is truly a joint command, the Jarheads should be included.
8. There are more than enough terrorists to keep everybody busy for the rest of our lives.

I say let 'em play.

He is training with minimal food or water, in austere conditions, training day and night. The only thing clean on him is his weapon and he made his web gear. He doesn't worry about what workout to do - his ruck weighs what it weighs, his runs end when the enemy stops chasing him. This True Believer is not concerned about 'how hard it is;' he knows either he wins or dies. He doesn't go home at 17:00, he is home. He knows only The Cause. Still want to quit?
