On February 28, 1994, Department of Defense Directive 1304.26 took effect...
...anyone that said "next thing you know, politicians will be defending child molesters" was immediately excoriated and labeled as a homophobe and a bigot.
...it was all about letting people serve their country without the threat of being persecuted and prosecuted over their private sexual habits.
...it had nothing to do with letting people behave badly or discredit "the uniform"
...anyone suggesting that it was just another example of Overtons Window being used to provide a stepping stone to using the military as a social tool for pandering to special interest groups was immediately dismissed as a right wing conspiracy nut
The radical has become sensible...
...transsexuals in the military? Are you crazy?
Well, they aren't hurting anyone, and as long as they can do their job...
The unthinkable has become acceptable...
...bacha bazi is a cultural issue, its not our business to interfere.
The acceptable has become popular...
...and is now being transformed into policy
"We told you so" really doesn't seem worth saying anymore...
...not when the folks instituting the policy have been moving the window in this direction all along.
Some of you folks will blink before you get to the end of this thread........
...see; you blinked didn't you. "I told you so"
Like I said, "I told you" so just doesn't mean the same thing when the result is predetermined to begin with.
Nothing to see here, move along....................
