Can creativity be learned?

I am not certain creativity can be learned, but it can be discovered and honed. Coming from an old school learning system, I remember we were taught to think what the teacher was thinking. So there was only one way to solve a math word problem, all forms of texts could only be interpreted in one manner and the teacher was always right.
Now with critical thinking the main focus, I have students using their own creativity to correctly solve math in ways I had never thought of (part of being assessed in my math class is the efficiency of how one solves a problem) and so long as a student can explain her/his thinking in a logical manner, all texts and/or art forms are now open to any creative personal interpretation.
Of course my role as a teacher is to challenge student ideas and yes sometimes I do make mistakes, but by doing so I have enhanced my own understanding through the work of my students. This of course helps me to be more creative when dealing with various types of student learning styles.
There may be more than one way to skin a cat, but the creative mind is what will determine the best method!
