What irritates me is the intrusion into our data and privacy that happens to us unwitting. It seems to be permeating everything we do today. Something as simple as clicking on a single webpage. Who reads the user terms for each and every single site they click on? I know I don’t. It does seem to be the culture today for everything to overreach.
I added the Lightbeam tool on Firefox. It “shines the light” on third party sites and who are actually connecting with me when I browse the web. I clicked on a post this morn for something silly, “13 perfectly timed photos.” The link took me to the site that was hosting it called caliser.com, which seems to be filled with similar mindless articles and slideshows. I can see the connecting activity while it’s happening as Firefox displays that on the bottom of the browser, but I didn’t realized just how much of it was happening. I opened to Lightbeam tool and took a look. I hit one site intentionally, and that site connects me to 72 third-party sites (see attached). WTH!
