I agree - a good story about a good person.

I never knew Dr John but met his Dad, the SecArmy, at Fort Benning when we were changed from the 4th Airborne Training Battalion to 1st Battalion 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment in Oct 1985. SecArmy Marsh pushed 'values' and his scoutmaster, the man he always said taught him to be a moral human being, was a paratrooper in the 507th who was KIA in the D-Day operations. The Airborne community wanted us to be the 501st, but SecArmy Marsh said we'd be the 507th to honor the man he most admired.

It sounds as if his son is a proverbial 'chip off the ol' block'.
