He is definitely trying to get paid no matter what.
Haven't read the book but have heard his interviews this guy wanted center stage for a supposedly humble guy in the book he seems to really want to be seen and known. But then again since Eric Haney wrote his book the tell all generation of soldiers since then have flourished. God knows plenty of QP's are seeking attention for every other mission.
