One of the Highest rates is Saudi Arabia at 81.3 of 1000 with a large percentage of the countries with high birth defects are Muslim. There are also a number of African countries with high birth defects that MAY be related to tribal societies with limit the gene pool.
When you get down around 60 defects per 1000 there are many poor countries where abortion isn't a factor.
