Killing high-profile people supposedly in possession of "dangerous information" doesn't seem like a good strategy given modern technology.
It just attracts attention and any "dangerous information" found is too easy to disseminate.

If I were to put on tin foil it would be for the implications of all the flag/general officers being fired.
Don't know enough about the military to understand how important it is, but it is disconcerting.
