Given where he was supposed to be working and travel restrictions placed on certain personnel inside W Berlin at the time, if that's his story I call bs. Maybe his book would have some expansion of how he did that. Maybe he typed up his own flag orders (a controlled document) while sipping a Weisse mit Schuss in the bar from a stash the AG office at Brigade HQ handed him like blank checks... and none of the 287th MPs noticed he stopped at the Vopo shack instead of proceeding on his way...
This guys sounds like a flake, which the lack of depth of his Stasi career would seem to bear out.
