At present lobbyist push this crap because Big Pharma, Big Medical and Big EDU can make BOOKOO selling hormones, trips to the shrink, surgeries and making a new medical specialties. The activist push this because they want something but they want others to pay for it.
This is only possible by spreading the expense to the majority.
More to the point, I don't have any issue with health insurers offering policies that cover Transgenders which offer coverage for parts switching. But if the insurers are to offer such a plan it should be a group plan specially for transgenders and that way the Transgenders are the ones paying for their idiosyncrasy not the non-transgenders which constitute the vast majority of the population.
Another option could be that insurers offers basics and then have an À la carte menu of extras where individuals can pick additional riders that cover things out of the norm or non-essential.
You want insurance to cover your promiscuity, gender bending, boobies, weenie, nose, Lipo, etc.....you can have it all for an additional fee which will be added to your basic coverage.
