Thank you Richard for this informative post. What irks me is the obvious slant of the reporter i.e. well, here is yet another example of the American military's expansionist adventurism. Pandering journalism at its
best IMO.
Of course if we weren't being proactive then the military would be accused of being asleep while on watch when all hell breaks loose.
When are these chuckle-heads going to wake up? Asymmetric warfare is the future and it is global! The only appropriate response is having an ever present, ever vigilant global counter.
And by the way, do that with < 300 ship Navy and 50% of the current defense budget.
