I been on charters and watch captains do exactly this maneuver. It's scary. If the boat needs to turn into a wave and the captain doesn't let up on the gas, you get the wave over the transom.. Big yatchets can take it but not all the time.. Smaller outboards with older open transoms are out of luck...
