When my kids were born I was offered the "honor" (I'm not dising it).
I passed. Didn't strike me as that big a deal. If you use the big knife make sure the docs and nurses know in advance AND the back story. Having the medicos freaking out at that particular moment might sort of spoil it.

When I was on my last team I fully expected my 18D to handle everything from pre-natal care to determining sex via ultra-sound to the actual delivery. I explained this as hands on training. (I did not mention this would be a great cross training opportunity, too)
